Silver clay is an exciting medium to utilise in jewellery design, once fired it produces 99.9 silver a higher caliber than sterling silver

The courses are taken by Kirsty, a qualified tutor at 'The silver zebra studio' set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.

Learn the basics of working with new bronze metal clay.  Bronze clay is extra strong and economical.  This workshop will cover firing methods and how to get a range of patinas and surface techniques.  Its is perfect for those larger pieces of jewellery like flat chokers, & bangles. 

Art Clay Introduction  June 20th, Sept 12th, Nov 8th

This workshop is suitable for novices as well as those more familiar with working with Art Clay Silver.  The workshop lasts for about 5 hours and will introduce you to all the basics of handling the clay, shaping, texturising etc. Also including is the finishing aspects of Art Clay Silver enabling a professional result.

The Cost of this workshop is £75.00 which includes the Silver to make 3 pieces of Jewellery and the use of all tools

 

Ring Making June 21st, 25th Oct

Create your very own customised rings
 

This workshop teaches you how to make two different types of rings.  You will learn how to design, make and finish your rings to a high standard.  You will learn how to set a stone, measure for the perfect fit, add texture or syringe patterns.  This workshop is suitable for those with some experience of metals clay.  The cost included all materials (20 g of clay) and full use of tools as required

Jewellery and Mould Casting 2nd Oct  

£110

 inc all materials and lunch. Learn how to make jewellery from your own moulds! You will make several jewellery items on the day to take home.

This day will get you started with Art Clay Silver, you can attend even if you have no previous knowledge of the material.  Moulds can be used for creating replicas of existing items, 3D shapes, making your own texture sheets, or even capturing textures of nature

In this class you will learn how to make your own moulds and how to capture the mould in silver clay.  Basic metal clay techniques will be discussed and demonstrated, as well as the various moulding compounds avaliable.  All tools will be provided along with moulding compound and 20grms of silverclay.  remember to bring with you any interesting textures and shapes to make moulds from, such as old buttons, sea shells, nuts fork handles, old jewellery, stones , bark anything with an intresting texture or shape


Chain Maille & Mixed Media Charms 11th Oct

inc all materials & lunch. Make your own chain maille bracelet inc clasp, from handmade sterling silver jumprings & your own charms!

This course is designed to teach a way of mixing sterling silver and fine silver together, you will make your own Chain Maille bracelet from handmade jumprings.  You will then make the charms to have on your bracelet, these charms can be made from polymer clay, resin, Silver Clay or a combination of all.  The choice is yours. 

The course includes the use of all tools, silver clay, polymer clay, resin. This course is open to anyone, no previous experience of any of the skills are necessary

Mixed Media: Glass and Silver Clay Dates 

 

 
During this workshop you will learn the basics of firing glass into cabochons, an understanding of working with glass and how to combine this with Silver Clay.  You will make a Pendant which will utilise provided glass cabochons.  You will also learn the finishing techniques to produce a professional item.
The Cost of this course is £110 which includes all  Silver Clay & full use of all tools & glass cabochons.  Experience of working with Silver Clay is necessary to attend this workshop
 

Lentil Bead

This workshop introduces you to working with 22CT Art CLay Gold Paste, you will make a substantial lentil bead which is a bold focal pendant.  You will learn how to make this piece as well as the application of the 22 CT Gold paste and this special firing and finishing procedures for this item.  you will also learn how to make the leather thong with findings which it hangs from. You will also make a pair of sterling silver wire earrings on this course, incorporating wire work and balancing your wire design on your chosen posts or french wires.
The Cost of this workshop is £115 which includes all of the Silver Clay, the use of the Gold Clay Paste, findings and full use of all tools required to make this exceptional piece.
This Course is only suitable for people with some experience of working with Silver Clay
 
 
Fingerprint Jewellery 
 
This workshop is suitable for novices as well as those more familiar with working with Art Clay Silver. During this workshop you will be taught how to capture a fingerprint onto Silver Clay, the preparation of the Silver Clay, adding names and dates or a kiss, Setting gemstones plus all of the finishing techniques to enable a professional standard.  Especially important if you wish to start your own business.  The Cost of this course is £110 which includes all of the clay use of tools, gemstones and findings needed

Intermediate Course   10am - 4.30pm    
The class is designed for you to Improve your silver clay skills You will receive specialist teaching to make your chosen projects, with full use of all tools. 20 grams of Silver clay will be included in your course costs with access to paste, syringe & paper clay.
This is a course aimed at students who have had previous experience with Silver Clay, & would like to advance their skills or for those beginners that feel confident enough to go for it!
The projects are your choice or you can use the clay and time to perfect different techniques with silver clay to make your own designs.

Keum Boo and Gold Paste   

£125 Price inludes all beverages, lunch, all materials and full use of tools

 
Ancient korean art of transfering gold to metal!

During this specialised workshop you will have 20 grams of silver clay to create your own fine silver pieces, You will learn how to fuse 24K Gold Foil to your work & will be guided how to utilise 24K Gold Paste.  Both methods are an excellent way of adding Gold to your creations without the cost implactions of Gold Clay.
The workshop is informative, providing you with the skills to continue your creations with Gold at home.  You will learn the different firing methods for both Gold Paste and Gold Foil, and the course provides full use of all tools.
Some experience or working with Art Clay Silver or PMC would be prefered, but not essential
. 
 
 
All Courses are taught by a Fully qualified Level 2 Art Clay Senior Instructor.
All course places are allocated on a first come first served basis, each course has a maximum of 6 places and once full no more deposits will be taken but we can add you to the waiting list if anyone cancels.
